  • National Suicide Crisis Hotline -  If you are in a crisis situation and are in need of immediate help, please call the National Suicide Crisis Hotline at 1-800-784-2433 or 1-800-SUICIDE.

  • The Befrienders - This organization provides information for anyone feeling low, depressed or suicidal, or worried about a friend or relative. You will also find access to the world's most comprehensive directory of crisis help lines through this organization.

  • The Samaritans - This organization provides confidential emotional support to any person who is suicidal or despairing. They also work to increase public awareness of issues around suicide and depression. The Samaritans' Safe Place Support Groups provide a safe and caring environment for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Their NYC telephone number is 212-673-3000.

  • AFSP (The American Foundation For Suicide Prevention) - AFSP provides a state-by-state listing of survivor support groups. This foundation also provides a comprehensive Information Guide for recently bereaved survivors, upon request. AFSP further holds survivor conferences and trainings for group facilitators. They additionally do extensive research in the area of suicide prevention.

  • parentsofsuicide.com - This web site offers support, memorials, a chat board, and many more options to survivors of loss to suicide.

  • The Circle - A web site for survivors of suicide who want to chat, receive support, and share their feelings.

  • survivingsuicide.com - This web site offers information on support groups, emotional support, a page on children's grief and many other options.

  • Mental Health Self-Help Network - This web site provides a forum for those who are experiencing depression, feelings of loss and grief, and in many other areas. 

  • Survivor of Suicide (S.O.S.) is for those living in or near Brisbane, Queensland in Australia.  This web site provides support and information on peer support groups for survivors.

  • Ray of Hope, Inc. - The Director of Ray of Hope, Inc. is Eleanora "Betsy" Ross. This organization provides support groups across the country, teaches survivors how to establish support groups, and offers workshops, presentations, and publications.  Publications include Ms. Ross' booklet, After Suicide, and also her most recent book, Life After Suicide - A Ray of Hope for Those Left Behind, Perseus Press, 1997.
